I spent the afternoon with Anna Morrison and her team at Amazing Apprenticeships in Hitchin.
Working on improving education and skills, especially for young people, is my main passion, and apprenticeships are a key part of that. Anna’s vibrant and knowledgeable team has a wealth of experience in working with schools, young people and providers nationwide to promote and improve apprenticeship awareness. Amazing Apprenticeships works with partners to offer a range of inspirational, engaging apprenticeship and traineeship support to schools and colleges across England.
I was struck by their energy, drive and vision for ensuring that young people have as many career options as possible. For too long in this country we have seen going to university at 18 as the only route to “success” in life – Amazing Apprenticeships proves that this is not the case. I will be working hard, with them , to help promote apprenticeships as a good, viable, positive option for all types of young people in Hitchin and Harpenden; and making sure that businesses know that providing good quality apprenticeships is as good (and sometimes better) than traditional graduate training schemes.
