Recently I met with senior Department for International Development (DfID) officials alongside the CEO and other leading members of pioneering charity Help Refugees.

With one of the founders of the charity, Amelia Cooper, as a constituent, a few months ago I became aware of the amazing work that the charity does, on the ground, to help refugees in war torn countries like Syria.

I arranged a meeting with senior officials at DfID to discuss how British Government aid can further help small charities like this one, and it gave them the opportunity to put forward their view of how we can help displaced people more effectively in a grass roots way.
