“I want to thank the people of Hitchin and Harpenden for electing me to represent them as their new Member of Parliament – I feel hugely privileged. I’m really keen now to get on with the job, and will be getting stuck into local issues over the coming weeks. One area of priority is education – during the election campaign this issue was raised repeatedly by concerned parents.  Over the coming weeks, I hope to be sitting down with the headteachers of our constituency’s schools as soon as possible to discuss their concerns – especially in terms of funding – and how I can help.  That aside, at national level the Brexit deal is one of the biggest things our country has faced in recent decades, and it will of course affect us in Hitchin and Harpenden. I want to assure you that I will be speaking up for the constituency on the deal, especially in the areas of financial services and farming, and try and help build a broad national consensus on the way in which Britain leaves the EU.

“If you have any concerns, or would like to know my views on any issues, please email me on, or write to me at Bim Afolami MP, House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA.”
