Yesterday I spoke at at the official opening of Redbourn primary school, near Harpenden, which joins together the infant and junior schools into one brilliant new primary. So many local people worked incredibly hard to get here, and special thanks to the new headteacher Mrs Hinchcliffe.

I was glad to see so many parents at the opening, showing how much they support the new school and the village. …

    ATTENTION HITCHIN COMMUTERS
I have received a lot of concern from constituents in Hitchin about changes to train timetables to London as part of Govia Thameslink Railway’s overhaul coming into effect in May until December, and have spoken with the Hitchin Rail User Group.

I am very concerned about the impact on commuters from Hitchin, especially after hearing about the changes to evening peak times that will have a huge impact on working parents travelling back from London, in particular the loss of trains leaving Kings Cross after 5pm, as well as the switch to St Pancras by several services.

There is an incredible amount of change to the timetable, as the entire GTR network through the London core and across the South East is overhauled. I know that decisions made on lines to Cambridge and down to Brighton are impacting Hitchin disproportionately.

Following my correspondence with the Department for Transport and GTR on behalf of Harpenden commuters, I will now be doing the same for Hitchin to ensure concerns about timetable changes in 2018 are not ignored. I am in close contact with the authorities on these issues and will be reporting back soon.

If you are worried about these changes please email me, including your address, to bim.afolami.mp@parliament.uk. …

    BIM AFOLAMI

I grew up watching my parents serve the local community with dedication. My father is a consultant doctor in the NHS, and my mother is a pharmacist. My grandfather was an Anglican vicar. I wanted to make that same positive difference to people as their Member of Parliament and I was first elected to represent this wonderful constituency on 9th June, 2017.
