Bim Afolami: To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy what discussions his Department has had with the Home Office on how to prevent the import of counterfeit goods; and what additional resources will be required for such purposes after the UK has left the EU.

Jo Johnson: HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) are responsible for policy on the enforcement of intellectual property rights at the UK’s borders and Border Force undertake border interventions to prevent the importation of infringing goods. Officials from the Department have regular discussions with HMRC regarding importation of counterfeit goods. It will be for HMRC and Border Force to determine what resources they will require at the borders, after the UK has left the EU.
