A few days ago I received a copy of this letter from a constituent regarding their recent experience with the NHS at the Acute Medical Unit at Lister Hospital.

We all too often criticise the NHS, but it’s always fantastic to hear about the positive experiences – such as this one – that so many people have had with it and the difference it can make to them.

As the son of a local Hertfordshire NHS practitioner, I know just how important the NHS is and why we need to make sure it is properly funded and is able to deliver this high level of service to everyone.

The extra £20.5 billion the Government is putting into our NHS by 2023/24 will go a long way towards this, but we need to make sure this is part of a long term plan, focusing on cutting waste and ensuring that every penny is well spent.
