Bim Afolami MP has co-signed a letter with Richard Harrington, MP for Watford, calling on the Chairman and Chief Executive of the Herts Valley Clinical Commissioning Group (HVCCG) to ensure that Nascot Lawn remains a fully funded and delivered service until 31st January 2018 while decisions are being made on its future.
Mr Afolami said: “I know how important Nascot Lawn is to several of my constituents. Respite care is a vital service and often a lifeline for families caring for children and young adults with severe needs. A guarantee of a full service until the end of January would at least help to put minds at rest while a solution is being devised.”
The letter also calls for the consultation process, started by HVCCG, to be extended to at least six weeks to allow reasonable time to work on a constructive solution.
Mr Afolami said: “Given the importance of the facility and the impact its closure would have on people’s lives, it is imperative that appropriate time is given to ensure that all options are properly considered and that parents can prepare a business case for the ‘blended funding solution’. I am calling for an urgent response from the HVCCG on these issues so that parents can be given clarity at this extremely difficult time.”
