It was announced yesterday (2nd October) that Monarch Airlines Ltd and Monarch Travel Group Ltd were to enter into administration. As a result, all Monarch flights and future holidays are cancelled with immediate effect. With around 110,000 people currently abroad on holidays booked through Monarch, Bim Afolami MP is encouraging those affected to seek help from the Civil Aviation Authority.
Bim said: “Over 30 additional aircraft are being provided by the government to fly passengers back to the UK as close as possible to their original return date. This operation will be the biggest peacetime repatriation ever undertaken.”
“Anyone abroad on a trip booked through Monarch is being advised to check the dedicated website that has been set up by the CAA (https://monarch.caa.co.uk/) or to call their helpline on 0300 303 2800 (UK) or +44 1753 330330 (overseas).”
“Passengers who have not yet departed on a trip booked with Monarch are being advised not to turn up at the airport as there will be no outbound Monarch flights or replacement services. For more information on compensation, passengers should visit the website above.”
