Earlier this week the Government announced that legislation would be brought forward to set a net zero target for greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
Below is letter I received from the Minister for Energy and Clean Growth, outlining how this commitment is feasible, deliverable and without any extra cost compared to the previous target set in 2008.
This is a world leading commitment that would make the UK the first major economy to legislate for net zero, and I’m delighted that we are taking action and I’m very proud to support this move.
As I’ve always said, tackling climate change must be a local priority as much as a national one. That’s why here in Hitchin and Harpenden I’m focused on improving accessibility for electric cars, upgrading our cycling network and delivering better rural bus services across the whole constituency.
