Following the Health Secretary’s statement this morning, the Government has confirmed that Hertfordshire will be subject to Tier 2 regional restrictions.
As I have made clear over the past few months, I believe that a localised, regional method is most the correct and fair approach. The tiering approach provides a framework that, if used firmly, should prevent the need for stricter national measures.
Thank you to the shared sacrifice of everyone in recent weeks. There is an improving picture across the majority of Hertfordshire with infection rates falling by 3.4% across the county and dropping by 8.4% in North Hertfordshire, but sadly rising by still increasing by 1.4% in the Albans District.
I will be working with local health officials and residents to try and get us back to tier 1 - our businesses need it, and our society needs it.
