On Friday, the Prime Minister laid out plans to reopen more businesses from 1 August, such as bowling and staking rinks, and including close contact services such as beauticians to resume.
He also announced plans to help enforce local rules and to prepare for any possible future spikes, by giving Councils new powers to manage things, such as being able to close specific premises, shut public outdoor spaces and cancel events.
The shielding programme for those most at risk in England, the clinically extremely vulnerable, will be paused at the end of this month. The Government will stay constantly vigilant and be sure to restart shielding at any point if required.
These are positive steps to help get our economy moving as a fast as possible, in the safest way. This of course continues to be subject to scientific advice.
