Yesterday, I visited the wonderful staff and pupils of Springfield, a specialist SEND (special education needs and disability) provision, based at Oaklands College in St Albans. Springfield does great work for young people and adults from my constituency.
In July, I asked the Prime Minister what we might do to help SEND pupils not just in Hitchin and Harpenden, but across the country, who have considerable requirements. I welcome the Government’s recent efforts to address the increasingly complex challenges of special schools and alternative provisions for SEND pupils. It has been announced that SEND schools will receive an extra £770 million in funding in the next year -this is a 11% increase compared to 2019-20.
