It is a privilege to serve our community in Hitchin & Harpenden as your Parliamentary representative. I understand the vital role digital communication plays to ensure the views of constituents are heard.
Of course, there may be times when my views differ from yours, but we will always share a common interest in the supporting the health and success of our community, our children and our environment.
I am extremely grateful to those who engage with the content on my Facebook page and shared posts to groups. My team and I try to respond to comments on Facebook as often as possible, but do not always see comments made on my posts.
My social media accounts are regularly updated to share my work, information about local campaigns and positions on policy. Social media platforms are not an appropriate place to raise casework issues or matters that need an in-depth response or analysis, for these issues, please contact me: www.bimafolami.co.uk/contact.
Sadly, there are some who wish to use this space for harassment and hatred, or as an opportunity to be abusive or spread racist and offensive language. Such negativity spreads far deeper than to me or my dedicated team, but also to those behind the content of my posts who are proud to show me what matters to them and to those who view my posts.
This social media policy is designed to ensure that all constituents may interact with me and each other in a way that is compatible with the principles of common courtesy and respect.
- Abuse and threats of any kind will be hidden or deleted without prior notice. In severe examples, an account may be blocked and reported to the social media companies, or to the Police.
- Freedom of speech is not to be confused with freedom of platform. Whilst I welcome opposing views, individuals, activists, political candidates or elected representatives should use their own account or page for campaign purposes, otherwise they may be blocked or have their comments removed.
- Recommendations of products or services made in the comments section are the responsibility of the person making the recommendation.
- Should an account be blocked from accessing my Facebook page, the individual is still able to subscribe to my newsletter and may still email me on policy or casework issues.
- The primary aim of my social media accounts is to serve constituents in Hitchin & Harpenden. If you do not live or work in the constituency then your comments may be ignored.
- I do not respond to comments on Twitter or to Direct Messages. Email me directly if you would like to get in touch.
