Farmers and growers in Hitchin & Harpenden can apply for grants of between £35k and £500k to invest in cutting edge robotics and technology to boost productivity. These may be used to purchase driverless tractors, robots that harvest, spray crops and weed, and automated milking systems. Farmers are also able to apply for grants towards new slurry management systems, including equipment that lowers the acid in slurry – increasing the nutrients for plants and reducing ammonia emissions and pollution. These grants are part of the Government’s previously announced Farming Investment Fund.
