While it is certainly welcome that green spaces have been increasingly used and appreciated over recent months, seemingly some North Herts residents have not been bothered to dispose of their litter safely or responsibly and in turn we have seen a deluge of littering.
It is reported that on some days, the council have had to pick up an additional 8-10 litter bins of waste a day from the ground at Great Ashby District Park and that 1 and 1/2 vans full of litter have been removed from Hitchin's Windmill Hill - this is disgraceful.
North Herts District Council (NHDC) have responded to this with their new hard-hitting anti-litter campaign. These green spaces are so important, as they provide us with many mental and physical benefits. We should continue to protect and enhance these places which we have come to value even more during these difficult times. So please, pick up after yourself and "Don't be a tosser".
