When I was younger, I was lucky to have the opportunity to lots of debating at school and at university. I strongly believe that learning to debate, and speak in public, not only helped me in becoming an MP, but it also really improved my general confidence and love of learning.
I was honoured to be invited to Hitchin Girls’ School yesterday to take part in two debates with the students – we debated Brexit and the Government’s economic policies – and had some fun and heated arguments! I also stayed after the debates to do some general Q&A with the students, where they asked me on anything and everything, both local and national. It wasn’t easy….
Working with schools and young people in our constituency is my number 1 priority – it is inspiring and engaging, and I love working with both teachers and students. Looking forward to my next visit!
